The decommissioning of the INS Vikrant - India's first aircraft carrier, was something that no one could digest but having preserved it as a museum for a long time, it was time to say goodbye but what a fitting goodbye it's been. While the Vikrant continues to live on with every Bajaj V15 motorcycle, team Leo Burnett and Bajaj Auto brought together the Sons of Vikrant documentary, which brings back the untold stories of valour and pride first hand from the brave officers who served on the legendary warship.

Wow. As an American, I am often ignorant to the power and capabilities of great nations such as India. Here, I am brought up to be a patriot. Nowadays, American patriotism really just means ignorance. This really opened my eyes, to the power, dedication, and willingness to sacrifice (for ones country) that the Indian people display.

I remember INS Vikrant, it came to Harold&Wolff shipyard Belfast N.Ireland for repair in the 1960's. There was an open day so I had the pleasure of seeing around the ship. It used to be called Hercules but was renamed INS Vikrant. My husband Sultan Abdul Kadar was petty officer on the ship. He died 2003 he would have loved this video.

My father Late Mr Uttam Laxman Kamble ( CHME 049654A ) was also present in mighty INS Vikrant in 1971 War. He was in the engine room. These team of Marine Engineers trained at INS Shivaji prestigious Indian Naval Marine Engineering College Lonavala were the driving force behind the INS Vikrant. I as son along with my siblings and my mother were privileged to pay a visit to INS Vikrant when she was berthed at Lions Gate Mumbai. Navy is in our blood stream. We have grown listening to stories of INS Vikrant and The Indian Navy. Very recently we visited Naval Dockyard Vishakhapatnam and visited One of the Diesel Electric submarine, INS Rana and INS Sahyadri. Also saw the spot where PNS Ghazi was sank at the mouth of Vishakhapatnam harbour. Never ever will the Pakistani navy will dare to see in the eyes of our mighty Indian Navy. Salute to all Sailors and officer's present on INS Vikrant while on 1971 war.

I can remember very well the Indian navy in Belfast. They were young and very well behaved. Some were great cooks I loved the Indian food. It was sad when INS Vikrant left Harland&Wolff shipyard after repair.

This was something. Each one of us felt we were a part of INS Vikrant and its quest for glory. What a ship!! and what a crew? Thank you for this lovely and touching piece on INS Vikrant's hours of glory.Sorry it did not last. The de-commissioning would have touched the hearts of all those who sailed her and who mounted those attacks from her decks. Will there be another like her?

Had a chance to visit INS Vikrant when it was turned into a museum, I still remember my Father was posted on INS Viraat, but he always used to talk about INS Vikrant. Had great luck to visit both the legendary carriers.
