Simple Minds have been musical pioneers for 40 glittering years. Catching the mood of the post-punk era, when the angry sounds of 1977 were splintering into a thousand different shapes, they emerged with a style rooted in the art-rock of David Bowie and the electronic dance of Donna Summer. They went on to become one of the great bands of their generation, deploying rousing choruses and booming atmospherics to provide a soundtrack that has endured. They topped the American chart with Don't You (Forget About Me) and followed suit in the UK with the Ballad Of The Streets EP (featuring Belfast Child). In selling over 60 million records, they have seen three of their 20 studio albums reach number one in the UK – Sparkle In The Rain, Once Upon A Time and Street Fighting Years – a chart-topping feat equalled by their live album Live In The City Of Light and the compilation Glittering Prize. A spellbinding touring band, they have graced the world's biggest stadiums. They starred at Live Aid and played three momentous London shows in honour of Nelson Mandela. The past decade has also seen a remarkable resurgence, their world-class credentials acknowledged by a Q magazine Inspiration award in 2014 and an Ivor Novello in 2016. They are now marking their 40th anniversary with a world tour, live album and career-spanning compilation.

One of my favourite Simple Minds tracks. I love Empires and Dance.

I never knew that a band from my childhood could have such a positive impact on my life not only as a young adult but as a middle-aged business professional. I consider Simple Minds music a part of my everyday life. I had the luxury of meeting Jim, his father and son through my friend Marlene H. in New York City (Roseland). It is no surprise that your band has transcended generations and will continue to do so. Keep the music coming and I LOVED this video. Thank you!

A timeless song. Well ahead of it's time. For youngsters out there, this is from 1980! Think about that. Now listen to Liaison or Bittersweet from their last album Big Music (2014). Cheers. :-)

Because the audience is of some age, we see fewer smartphones. The older audience used to enjoy the concert by see it directly and not through a small screen.

Simple Minds – I Travel Lyrics
Cities, buildings falling down
Ideal homes falling down
These pictures I see on the wall
Timeless leaders stand so tall
Assassin in a hit and run
Asia steals a new born son
Evacuees and refugees
Presidents and monarchies

Travel round
I travel round
Decadence and pleasure towns
Tragedies, luxuries, statues, parks and galleries

Europe has a language problem
Talk, talk, talk, talk, talking on
In central Europe
Men are marching
Marching on and marching on
Love songs playing in the restaurants
Airport playing "Bi Some Lo"

Travel round
I travel round
Decadence and pleasure towns
Tragedies, luxuries, statues, parks and galleries

Europe has a language problem

Europe has a language problem
America has a language problem
I Travel
Euro-Bureau-Interpol
Making love to the criminals
Asia has a language problem
I Travel
And on and on and on and on and on and on and on
