Genie IntelliG garage door stopping short?

This Genie optical encoder is a very cheap plastic part that essentially tracks how many times the motor turns so it can find the right spot to stop based on the down and up limits set.

I took the garage door opener apart and inspected the optical encoder and found one of the two sensor’s feet had broken off and wasn’t sitting in the part correctly.

Super glueing the part back into place and reassembling the Genie IntelliG 1200 (model 4024) put the garage door right back into working order.

Saved myself $20 or $300 depending how handy you are.
