I used to win these all the time as a kid. At the local bowling alley, some kids gave me their money to win the prize for them (which sometimes is impossible depending on the rigged settings). I still play them today as an adult, and I've been using the multiple vantage point thing for years.
If you're not already aware, the settings can be manipulated by the store owner to only maintain a tight enough grip every certain # of turns. Let's say 1 out of 10 times, the claw has a tight enough grip to carry that prize you pick up and deliver to the prize door. So when they tried the tilt hack, the toy may have slipped because it was on the weak grip turn.
Also learn to gently nudge the controller to the exact spot, and double check through multiple vantage points.

I've won these a few times with the multi vantage point system but I've also heard these games are rigged like slot machines and pay out after a certain amount of games played.

I am an avid claw machine player and no one tilts. It may seem okay, but we call prizes too far back or forward in "the dead zone". Its ungettable for a reason.
