So, for anyone confused, this is essentially what I got from the lore: 2011x's future is split down the middle. He has two timeliness that embrace the polar opposite aspects of his being. If he embraces his demonic nature, the end result would be 2011 Lord X. If he decided to stick the goal of being Sonic and wanting to embrace the role he disguised himself as, 2017x is the result.

As I said on the official upload of Subterfuge, 2017 X seems a lot less ill-willed than his more iconic counterparts. He's not a good guy, not by a longshot, but he's more disillusioned into his own beliefs that he is Sonic the savior in his own twisted way, that it feels like he doesn't get that what he's doing is utterly heinous. Kinda makes him more sympathetic in my eyes.

And I think you captured that disillusion pretty well in the lyrics. Just wish we got to hear Tails sing his side, like in the original.
