The First Descendant - RTX 4070 Super Benchmark

The First Descendant just went live, and today we benchmark this game with a Geforce RTX 4070 Super, an Intel 14600KF CPU, and 32GB DDR5 6400MT/s CL32 RAM.

The First Descendant is the latest Unreal Engine 5 title, and is the first UE5 title to support DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Frame Generation, as well as DLSS ray reconstruction. So how does The First Descendant on PC perform?

Well, pretty good actually. It has hardware ray tracing, and while it can be demanding, it's not really as demanding as many other ray traced titles. It does suffer from some stuttering though, but overall the performance is quite good.

The First Descendant is free on Steam, and is a PVE 3rd person looter shooter, and looks quite fun from the little that I played so far.

Thank you for the video. Can you test the different levels of Ray Tracing to see the visual and performance difference? I wonder if RT at "Low" looks better than regular Ultra settings without RT. 😉

played it today. 5800x3d and 4080S. Get right around 100FPS avg while at 4k High with DLSS Quality. with Frame Gen it can hit 120 on average. Flat out Native 4K Ultra is 60FPS with no DLSS/FG.

Great video. Unfortunately this game is getting a pretty bad reception it seems from the community at large

Why not show 1440p native no RT at high or optimized?

Ray reconstruction affect negatively because the game is using Ray Tracing not Path Tracing, there were some bugs and you could actually use DLSS RR on Ray Tracing preset in Cyberpunk 2077 and it was also performance affected in bad way but not too much

Thank you!
For a game this awful, the performance is poor, with too much stuttering. I have 4080 and 7800x3D, yet this game is not ready; it runs the same as last year!

RT only kills FPS in this game, and it stutters A LOT.

I think i want to tell you is that ue5 games demand lot of vram and nvidia side using technology like frame gen and ray reconstruction uses gpu vram in 1440p the moment you use those with max settings it maxes out vram uses and results in fps drops in this situation you need atleast 16gb vram gpus which nvidia provides with 4070 ti super and above. You will not face this problem with rx 7800xt and above gpu which meets the requirements

I run it with 13900/4090 and the stutters are disgusting, even sometime screen freeze... :-(

I think this is the most generic game i have played in quite a while. Already uninstalled. Almost fell asleep shooting those braindead enemies.
