I’ve been friends with this one guy since Elementary School and had _no_ idea what race he was. I never asked because it didn’t matter and I thought it’d be awkward, but I was always a little curious. AND THEN IN _HIGH SCHOOL_ he casually mentions to me that he’s half-Hispanic half-Asian.

It was probably just a little comment for him, but for me it was the end of a 10-year long quest.

Happens to me all the freakin' time. I've gotten guesses like Spanish, Greek, Polynesian, and pretty much anywhere else that has folks with olive skin and curly hair. I didn't even know (my Asian grandparents died years ago, and no one bothered to look into their origins), so I took some DNA tests and did a couple of videos about the results. Turns out it's some bizarre combo of Chinese, Taiwanese, Vietnamese, and Cambodian with some distant Nepali and Central Asia on one side, and English, Scottish, French, and German with some distant Norwegian and the Balkans on the other. TLDR, I'm Eurasian Austronesian.

I relate to this so much. I'm Brazilian so I'm technically Latino because I live in the Latin America, but I'm not Hispanic as we speak Portuguese here and my entire family is Caucasian and came from Italy and Portugal. So when American people ask who I am I'm kinda like... "Latino...? But not really Latino...? Caucasian...?" AND IT'S REALLY ANNOYING

I am Samoan, Niuean, Maori and Irish. Literally everyone to ever guess my ethnicity has gotten it wrong, they always guess East Asian countries. It also doesn't help that my nickname is Lee....

Usually when people ask, I'll give a smartass answer (I am human just like you, I'm definitely not a martian, I'm an American :)) before giving an actual answer.

-no one ever guesses Cambodian or Vietnamese but nobody knows what a Cambodian/Vietnamese person looks like or where those countries are, so that's understandable-
