The Industrialised Building System (IBS) Competency Course – Lightweight Block

29 and 30 June 2024 - The Industrialised Building System (IBS) Competency Course – Lightweight Block has successfully concluded at the Heavy Structure Engineering Technology Laboratory, UTHM Pagoh Branch Campus. The 2-day course was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering Technology (JTKA), Faculty of Engineering Technology, in collaboration with the Professional Industry Training Center (PiTC) and Gigacube Sdn. Bhd. It was conducted through theoretical and practical sessions involving a total of 62 students from the BNA and BNC programs. The course objectives included providing students with knowledge about IBS technical aspects, IBS techniques in Malaysia, and understanding the types and methods of IBS.

En. Mohd Nazim bin Othman, a CIDB Certificate Trainer from Gigacube Sdn. Bhd. was appointed as an industry instructor throughout the course, assisted by several JTKA and PPMKCP staff members who hold IBS competency certificates from CIDB. According to the Program Director, Pn. Salina binti Sani and Project Advisor, Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohamad Hairi bin Osman, student performance in each group was evaluated during examination sessions by industry instructors and UTHM facilitators. All student groups successfully passed with an 80% or higher score.
