A professor at a higher age would be able to supervise in a better way qualitatively as he can have more time to focus on innovative ideas and serious research.
Avoiding taking benefit from richer knowledge society would deprive the nation of enriched available wisdom.
Professors like Warfield, Hawkins, Roger Penrose, Koeing, S G Deshmukh, Kesavan and many more would not have given the society the fruit of wisdom if they would have been deprived of the opportunity to supervise their scholars even after retirement. A knowledge society can move towards wisdom society only when seniors are allowed to coexist with juniors for exchange of knowledge, heuristics and experience till such time they are mentally alert. It was only with the association of wisdom of the old Socrates and Aristotle that the young Plato could emerge.
The polity of the nation should think wisely in this direction, if India wants to be a leader in all fields of the vast expanse of knowledge .
