Elaine was focused on winning this race hands down in front of the world. Leaving no questions of her being the fastest woman alive. She was driven by the noise over social media. So let's do the dag gon thing. An Elaine did it in a blazin time. She had a focus in her eyes I hadn't seen before .... Wow it was something to behold

She’s saying something to which I can relate, and I think is the key to Track & Field. I remember being in school running very hard and strained, hitting 11.9, 11.7, 11.1, and on day in practice it was cold and I decided to take it easy…10.5 in the time trial, and my coach said, “whoa”! Next time, I did it again, ran what I felt was about 80%, and I ran 10.2! I ran a race after that where I tried my hardest…11.1. It was then I realized my key was not to run my hardest…only run at what felt to be about 80% my fastest, and I could rub blazing fast times.

This is something my coaches did not teach me, and I’m upset I didn’t understand this previously. I think the key to sprinting is to not try too hard…relaxation is much more important than folks realize. Oh, and to the Poster of this, it is getting played out when folks keep saying silly stuff about Sha’Carri. She had two youth world records, and mboma broke one of them in Tokyo, Sha’Carri has also run internationally and defeated most of the greats, including SAFP. Let’s please cut that out, man. Oh yeah, sorry, one more thing, we do have insight into FloJo’s mind, and Evelyn Ashford’s mind as well, because they’ve said it during an interview. FloJo said she ran the best curve of her life in the 200M WR, and she said she kept saying to herself, “relax…relax…” and that if she could relax she could prevail. Evelyn Ashford said when she’s running she feels absolutely nothing, and it is the most amazing feeling in the world, even better than sex. This is what Elaine has apparently mastered, and we are now seeing what separates the best from the average…relaxation.

Watching this in 2022 with one month to go till World Championships Eugene 2022 she better be ready to think about time and breaking the record cos SFP is gonna bring it. Whoever wins knows and believes they will break the record. I also think sha'carri will comeback very strong 💪 she now knows the gap she gotta close.

I think you are spot on with your take on Elaine's mindset going into Eugene and running 10.54 but best season ever? Elaine had arguably the 2nd best season of female sprinting ever IMO the best was Flojo in 1988, Elaine was not undefeated nor did she set any WR, while she may have actually run the fastest 100m time ever and the 2nd fastest 200m ever in 2021, Flojo was undefeated in 1988 and set WRs and ORs over both 100m and 200m while getting gold and silver relay medals🏅 !!
Would Elaine and Shelly Ann have made such massive improvements in their sprint times this year without the track and spike technology of 2021, what kind of times would Flojo have run with todays tech? 🤔
As far as Elaine winning the award as athlete of the year, IMO Sydney Mclaughlin had a better case because she was undefeated this year and set the WR twice in 400m hurdles, also won 1600m relay gold this Olympics.

Most hype😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 and dead last. Even Bree-bree, our worst performing Jamaican
thought💭 "Dah Gyal deh, naah guh beat mi"
Translation: "That American representative is not going to beat me"
Elaine Shelly Shericka and Usain Yohan Tyson, all our athletes seem to have that ability to multi-task and actually think faster than they run so that is how she could feel sluggish.
Unlike the other commentors, I concur with you King Peter😎🏁

Genuinely don’t understand why you kept mentioning Sha’Carri. Elaine didn’t “put her in her place”, it was one race and THEY WILL meet again in a few months. 😭

I respect what she did on the track but I don’t respect her lying to the Jamaican peoples and disrespecting mvp and Stephen Francis, Francis and his coaching staff took her from 0 to hero and I truly believe she disrespected the coach that brought her to 2 Olympic Games and 5 Olympic gold medals and a silver medal!
