ummm.... Im pretty sure "The Jet Man" Yves Rossy has already used scaled down turbine (airplane model) engines on a type of flight suit! He designed and built his own version of a type of flying suit that mainly consist of a small wing fixed to the back by a type of back pack with no tail wings at all! 4 small airplane model engines are fixed to said wing just like a fighter jet. Throttle control is a dial like device attached to one of his left/right flight gloves controlled by dialing forwards or backwards to throttle up or back down. All allowing the pilot to take flight and maintain controlled flight just like a bird by simply dialing forward on the throttle and arching the back in an upwards position to gain lift. Simply lean to the left or right to turn or even barrel roll, yes i said barrel roll! Dial down to throttle down and lean forward to dive. Its a simple set of directions to follow. Taking it almost to the very flight dynamics of birds allowing you to (fly like a bird). "The Jet Man" Yves Rossy is the pioneer and the original man of flight! Look him up! I promise your jaw will hit the floor. He makes this thing look like a childs toy!!!
