My only issue is the battery location. I love my under seat storage.

Twin turbo v6 with a hybrid system. What can go wrong 😊

It looks like it would be a nightmare to work on

Can't wait to see the repair bill when that hybrid system starts having issues inf 5 years can you say 10, 000+ dollars?

I wish they could have done it in the double cab too. The full doors are huge

Not a hybrid, it's electric assist.

I would have preferred to see the 5.0 liter from the IS500 with the hybrid gen system. I hate turbos.

The battery could be a little bit bigger I think?

Only downside is the overall curb weight. F150 power boost get 5mpg more overall due to its light configuration. I’d probably drop in a tune to squeeze out more HP. Tundra is gonna be reliable like my ‘12! 👍

It's not the hybrid system I'm worried about. It's the turbocharger and the increased heat and load on the engine itself that scares me.

You better get extended extended extended warranty 😂

I just think they could have done a better job with battery location. Or split it to two!

Judging by the rims, it's from the 1794 Edition.

The hybrid system had plenty of power and was fun to drive. The only thing that I hated was the hybrid regenerative braking system. Mine made a high pitched humming noise when I would step on the brake. Toyota claimed this was normal. It was enough to drive me away from my TRD pro into a Raptor.

IMHO, I kind of like this system but they could only do so much while trying to fit things into an existing truck design. I do hope that once radial flux motors become a thing, we could actually get a more powerful hybrid system for less weight (currently 46 horsepower; new gen radial flux motors can probably do double that and then some for the same weight).

Toyota opted for NiMH because it can air cool the batteries and get the air from the cab unlike Ford who uses Li-ion. The thing is, if they opt to switch to Li-ion (or better, Toyota's new solid state battery that will be available in a couple of years), you can have the power capacity or a little bit more in a smaller package--and you'll get some of your storage back. As for cooling, well, the engineers can figure out packaging for that (I mean, Lucid could do it, and they have an extremely compact EV design that shames Tesla and others).

As a battery manufacturer I would like to warn people who live in hot climates when these batteries get hot they release a chemical gas and being located under the seat is not a brilliant idea. I disagree with this design and others like it. The fumes will cause lung cancer and nerve damage as well burning the esophagus. I recommend you do your research before putting your family in one of these models
