Powell's defense gets at something that's long been evident but it's never been clear to me how much it matters. I'm not sure any of the lawyers under indictment had formal arrangement with the campaign, the government, or Trump. I've long wondered how they can claim attorney client privilege and how can Trump can claim he was acting under their legal advice without formally retaining them. It is, however, easy to see how they all conspired together since furthering their criminal aims wouldn't require any formal agreement.
