How to defrost a turkey quickly and safely - First step - take a deep breath. You can still pull this off - second step - watch this video. It's really possible to defrost a turkey relatively quickly. And you can do it safely - I promise! It still takes a couple hours (depending on the size of your bird), but it you have some patience you can pull off a roasted turkey at the last minute. I promise. No special tools required. Check out this video and see how simple it is!

Used this video last year, and it worked like a charm.

For about three hours now I’ve had a frozen turkey, still wrapped outside in a 5 gallon bucket full of water with a few chunks of ice and I change it about every 40 or so minutes and the turkey itself is in a bag a trash bag that is in the bucket, but I’m getting so many different feedbacks all over the Internet about being wrapped verses unwrapped

We were in Germany in the army an scrubbed the tub an filled about half way with cold water. Put the Turkey in it to thaw . Came back to check on it an my dog was in the tub with the bird.

Ms. Jan
Thank you for taking time out of your day to show us out here in You Tube land . How to defrost a turkey 🦃. It's nice having a big sister/ mother figure. To show us how to defrost the turkey.
My favorite part of the video was when you said "Y'all let's get to cookin".😅😂😁👍🦃
I'm guessing you and your family 💖 are from the south of the United States.
As for myself . It actually doesn't bother me to touch a raw turkey ☺️.
Cause I've worked in a chicken 🐔 plant.
Only for the brave at heart I guess.
Blessings to you and your family 💖👍.

Just in case it hasn't been thought of- if you fill the pot to the brim and continue with the trickle method, it seems like you'd get a headstart on the thaw since the cold won't just be being drawn out from just the surface area of the initial trickling water. Good idea, though. Thank you. 🙂

Thats wrong the Turkey must be completely submerged in cold water and not let to stand at room for any amount of time! The water needs to be changed every half hour.

Bird needs to be fully submerged. The part that is already thawed and not covered in water is sitting at room temperature for too long and no longer safe. No reason to do a slow trickle of water.
