Thank you for another great video. Beware however, as an eye doctor you want to look for sunglasses that say “100% UV protection”. Saying UV 400 is like saying SPF. But SPF what? 5% or 50%? Sunglasses without 100% UV protection are more dangerous than not wearing sunglasses at all. The reason being, the tint is NOT the UV protection. So with those sunglasses on, the tint opens up your pupils allowing more dangerous UV light into the eye. Without them on, at least your pupils are constricted and smaller, limiting the amount of dangerous UV light entering the eye. So please please please, look for sunglasses that say 100% UV protection.
I did read on this pair featured in the video is says “may” provide UVA and UVB protection. UV causes macular degeneration, cataracts and even malignant melanoma inside the eyes.
