Chocolate Ice Cream Bars - You Suck at Cooking (episode 145)

Chocolate covered ice cream bars are similar to gold bars, except they are made of different materials. The materials are ice cream and chocolate, as opposed to gold.

Recipe

Like most ice cream bar recipes, we're taking two well known recipes and combinating them: no churn ice cream, and home made magic shell, both of which have been around since the dawn of time.

The Ice Cream
2 cups of heavy cream or whipping cream
Whip it or don't whip it
1 can of sweetened condensed milk (small can, 300-400ml/14oz)
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Combine those things together. A lot of recipes say you should mix the vanilla with the condensed milk first but I'm skeptical that it makes a difference. Even more skeptical as I am of Sasquatch because I'm not skeptical of Sasquatch at all because they're real.

So pour your non-iced cream into ice cream moulds and freeze them overnight. Don't dick around and try to freeze them for just a few hours. You need the ice cream to be mega cold for this to work.

Magic Shell

Melt two bags of chocolate chips or another kind of chocolate
Add 1 or 2 tablespoon of coconut oil but don't over do it

Melt that stuff in a double boiler then wait for it to cool all the way down

I'm gonna be honest with you...even as I thought I got the hang of this I was still messing it up when I was trying to make more. The weird thing was the first couple came out fine then the one after that slipped off. WHY? I don't know. But one thing I know is you gotta refreeze those bars after you take them out if there is any meltitude on the outside. If you have molds that let you pull them out without them melting, then congratulations.

But yeah, if you figure out which chocolate works best lemme know.

Anyway, cold ice cream, not hot chocolate, give it a dip, let a lot of the chocolate drip off, then hold it in the hair until it sets before you lay it back in a container for freezing.

I could have gotten into all these details in the video but, you know, I got distracted.

Emma explains it better and I got the no-whipping tip from her:

The musical moment at the end was nothing short of divine. In fact, if you asked me, I'd say it was a bit taller than divine.

There is something wonderful about him using a can opener on a can that has a pull tab. Keep up the good work my dude.

The ending was so poetic, transformative, life-altering. I've never felt such pure bliss before and I never will again.

The bathing of the battering ram symbolizes his rebirth before stepping out of the sink and exploring freedom (YSAC, 4:04). This final bath can be seen as the ram's final act of rebellion. The ending to the story provides the sense that the ram has finally gained his complete freedom from a world he did not belong in. He was living a life that ceased to please him and he found his escape in the water. Compared to the thick, sticky fluids featured throughout the rest of the video, the water symbolizes freedom and independence, and it is through this last act that the battering ram is able to experience both of these aspects forever. Showering himself was not to show that he was not able to handle ice cream, it was to symbolize that he had discovered a way to be happy, and he was strong enough to rebel against society in order to gain independence the only way he knew how. Now the ram never has to return to the kitchen to live a life where he is not free to be himself, instead he escapes into the expanse of the house to live freely forever. The battering ram's journey to freedom and independence is played out with a backing of Delibes' "Sous le dôme épais". The ram's first meeting with water parallels the Earth-shattering meeting between Gerald and Lakme from the original opera.

Really great video. Instead of dipping the icecream I recommend using a silicone brush to apply it in layers which also gives you the benefit of being able to put them back in the particle condernser in between layers. About 2 layers is already enough, go for 3 layers for that signature crunch upon bite. Or go for 12 which is as thick as a pocket bible and will make you feel an equal amount of guilt.

I have a hunch that these vids are just a motivator for YSAC to clean his kitchen once a month

I'll never stop being fascinated by the amount of names he can come up with for a freezer

Yet again, another perfect work of art from YSAC. The ending was absolutely phenomenal, as the background music really fit the context of that scenery. I really can't believe that to this day you're not included in history books. Matter of fact, you deserve to be known across the world, immortalized in history.

I'm thrilled to see the battering ram back in action. My favorite cameo from the Onion Rings episode.

Im so glad that I found this channel again. Used to watch your videos a lot like 2 years ago but forgot the name of the channel. Very entertaining, and the amount of work you put into creating these recipes is just astonishing. Not to mention that you deliver us great recipes in a very interesting form of comedy. Keep up the good work!
