I hope the new Netflix movie of cleopatra sees this. They don't know anything. Bravo Curtis

Finally, a Cleopatra documentary that is founded on historical evidence rather than your grandmother's viewpoint, like Netflix's Cleopatra: To depict Cleopatra as accurately as possible in relation to historical fact is a matter of respect and intellectual integrity.

Cleopatra was part of the Ptolemaic dynasty of Egypt which were of Greek descent from Greece. She was part of Alexander's legacy in Egypt.

You base your documentaries on facts Curtis, unlike those who warp the truth because they are looking for good audiences figures! Good for you, I’m really looking forward to your documentary! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😘😘😘

As I am Egyptologist and also have studied Archaeologist for four years, not a question for me that Cleopatra was not black. She had Macedon-Greek origin and the Ptolemaic dynasty have never mixed with other culture, even not with the ancient Egyptians - except of from the Hellenistic word. They gave their daughters for wife to other rulers but a king never married with others, only from the family. I don't understand why need to make false history? For who good this? If it would be a simple movie ok, no problem who play the role but for documentary .... very big mistake.

I was just lecturing on her a couple weeks ago, and made a quick two minute short video as well. I am glad that you are connecting her heritage to the Ptolemy family and Macedonia.

What a blast to Netflix’s credibility spoken by the official voice of Egyptian history Dr. Hawas.

As an Egyptian I love this ! We do still till this very moment love and respect our kings and queens I think this was obvious through mommies golden parade we wont allow our history to be manipulated

Well this is fascinating. I love that you put in images of her that are usually not shown. It is obvious to most people Cleopatra was throughly Greek and not a black African. I think the most telling is the sculpture of her with tinged red hair, and the portrait of her with red tinged hair looking very European in Roman dress. That links the 2 impressions of her. She was indeed Mediterranean. While red hair was common among women in Rome the more important part is that it links those two images of her facial structure etc. I am not sure why this is even a debate at this point. There seem to be a concerted effort to retell history not based on facts but on popular feeling. If you know the history of the Ptolemaic dynasty you would know why it was highly unlikely that Cleopatra was a black African. I am not sure if the problem is people's lack of understanding of the genetic make up of Eygpt also? There were high influxes of various haplogroups that came from almost everywhere. Eygpt was always sort of a mixing pot. There were Y-E1b1's, R1b1, mtdna there were H and G haplogroups as well. There were also identifiable DNA from the Levant Jews. From this we can see migrations patterns and social structure of Eygpt. The Ptolemaic dynasty was even more onto themselves intermarrying within the Greek family. We need to be very careful about rewriting history to be "inclusive" becuase that is a step too far. "Not to know what happened before you were born is to remain a child forever." ~Cicero

Thank you for showing the history based on the truths not based on what blacks grandmother told them ! A million thanks from Egypt!

The Afrocentrics know the truth that the people of Egypt and Cleopatra are not black, but they want to take everything that has an honorable past to make a false past for them instead of working for their future, except for the respected ones. Thanks to the filmmakers. Thank you, Dr. Zahi
