Trump campaign: Public service work isn’t a ‘real job’

The Trump campaign's ever-shrinking definition of who counts as a "real American" is now targeting public service workers. With momentum shifting toward the Harris-Walz ticket, Trump’s campaign is resorting to attacking Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz’s career in public service. The latest line of attack suggests that Walz, a former geography teacher, high school coach, and 24-year military veteran, is unfit for office because, according to Trump’s camp, he’s never held a “real job,” a “private sector job.”

Dude grew up working on a farm. A LITERAL FARMER. Then a soldier... the ULTIMATE job. Then a teacher... one of the least respected jobs. Then public service in politics... where all you do is open your entire life up to scrutiny and ridicule.

But sure... he's never had a "real" job.

As a gig worker doing deliveries for many many hours every single day... I hear constantly "get a real job." Never thought I'd be lumped in with one of the greatest VP nominees we've ever had. I'm proud of my not real job if that's the company they're having me keep.

I spent my clinical intern hours at the San Francisco Health Department during the height of the AIDS crisis. I made home visits in the Castro, Tenderloin and Mission to folks under a death sentence wrapped in stigma. It was the most real job I've ever had.

Walz's first job was working on the family farm. That's about as private sector as it gets. I'd like to see Trump do an hour of farm work. He can't even walk a 9-hole golf course, needing a cart to ferry him around. Swinging a golf club isn't great exercise, which is why carted golf is his favorite sport. He was the laziest president ever.
