Experiments in Induction Cooking

We've had a number of people asking just how induction cooking works so we decided to put a little video together to illustrate the genius of it all.

Induction pans are made of ferromagnetic metal. Induction hobs have electromagnets in them and when they're turned on the induction cookware on the hob essentially turns into the element and gets hot - quickly! The amazing thing is that the actual hob surface doesn't get hot aside from a bit of reflected heat.

This makes induction cooking fast, energy efficient and far safer to use than conventional stove tops or gas burners.

it's a good idea but most of your food will fall out. If you try make the edge go up all the way around it would be better

Through the process of changing magnetism underneath the top, its going to induce a voltage and a current on the ferromagnets or other metals (not insulators like eggs, etc). This transfers into thermal energy. That's why things heat up on the pan.

I have been wondering about these stoves for a few days now. Glad, I looked into how they work. I’ll definitely be purchasing one.

For some days I will be alone in home instead of two. I was trying to find solution to cook half of the food we used to cook. Thanks for the genius idea!

It would be unlikely that a ring is ferromagnetic, but a valid point if it were. Since IRL you use a whole pot that takes up most of the hob, and you don't generally leave your hand on the cooktop, it isn't a problem.

Easy cleanup, safety, great heat control, energy efficiency - induction rocks! Thanks for making this video. Most people in the US don't know about induction cooking, and they're really missing out.

You should be careful with your ring, what if it is magnetic. Then your finger would get cooked like a how the bacon was cooked

For fluids thin plates. The thinner the plate and the smaller the gap in
between good heating.Similar in construction with car radiator.boil 1liter of water and then mix with 1liter cold water.
