This week, Pastor Ted Wilson continues the discussion of Chapter 14 of The Great Controversy, “Later English Reformers,” in which John Wesley spent some time with the Moravians in America and was deeply impressed with their faith and Christian life.

John and Charles Wesley were ridiculed when they returned to England with their new understanding of salvation and were contemptuously called "Methodists" by their fellow students. This name, however, became the name of one of the largest Protestant denominations in England and America.

Amen. Faithfulness has its fruits. My parents were both Methodists. Mother was very serious about Christianity; father not so much. But they both accepted the Advent Message without much hesitation after they had several children. Back then Methodists were very strict about things like proper Christian attire, regular attendance at church services and prayer meetings and they kept Sunday as strictly as true Sabbath keepers keep the Saturday Sabbath. Ecumenism has changed all that. Or maybe I should say, love of the world with diminished love of the Savior has changed all that. We need to get by to our first love. All of us who have backslidden. The Wesley's were true men and women of God.

Amen, interesting history of the time of the Wesley brothers. We are saved by grace, We are justified by the blood of the Jesus Christ and We are sanctified by the power of the Holy Spirit indwelling in us....Amen.

John Wesley's preaching and teaching of the Word from the pulpit and Charles Wesley's teaching and preaching through hymns and songs were phenomenal. Look up some of his very popular songs: Love Divine, All Loves Excelling, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Christ the Lord is Risen Today; Soldiers of Christ Arise; Rejoice the Lord is King; Jesus, Lover of My Soul
What a blessing such songs have been and continue to be to millions over these multiple decades.
