"Transforming a Hidden Field into Gouache Art | Day 18 Art Journal"

In this Poppa Paints episode, I take you on a serene stroll through a hidden gem—a tranquil field nestled behind a McDonald's restaurant near my home in Ocala, Florida. Despite the proximity to bustling State Road 200, the sunlit trees and glistening Spanish moss create a peaceful atmosphere, making it easy to forget the nearby urban environment.

In the first part of the video, I share footage from this walk, capturing the natural beauty that often goes unnoticed behind familiar places. The second part features a real-time gouache painting demonstration, where I transform one of the captured scenes into Day 18 of my art journal.

As I paint, I discuss the techniques I use to bring depth and light into the landscape, offering insights into my creative process.

My neice does pencil drawings from photographs. We gave her a photo of my late husband. She did an incredible job, but it looked like him 30 years prior. We were so pleased. She drew not only from the picture but also from her heart. Now, it's even more of a treasure.

Thank you for taking us on your walks. For those of us who can't get out, it's an incredible journey. Artists see the world differently, and I'm so glad I see what you see. And I love you sharing the stories - it's like visiting with a friend. Thank you for inviting us into your world.
