Small boat fishing season looms so time to start servicing the outboard engine, in this case my trusty old Tohatsu M5B 5hp 2 stroke could do with a new impeller (water pump) fitting, I've owned the engine a good few years and have never even looked at the impeller so it's long overdue.

This process should be pretty much identical for Mercury and Mariner sub 6hp outboards be they 4 or 2 stroke as the leg and lower units as far as I'm aware are exactly the same as the Tohatsu.

great video! got everything back together (after some tries!). Now I have water coming out the tell-tale. BUT - should there be water inside the shaft? I started it up without the side plug/bung and water was shooting out the side. Put the plug in and now it's not shooting out, but is seeping around a the plug a bit.

I fear I don't have the elbow in exactly straight. Don't want to disassemble. Thoughts?
