2024 Matric Results | Basic Education fined R5M for matric results breach

The Information regulator has issued a R5 million fine on the Basic Education Department for 2024 Matric results breaches.

This follows the department's failure to stop the publishing of 2024 matric results in newspapers.

The enforcement notice was issued in November.

Information Regulator Chairperson Pansy Tlakula, spoke to eNCA.

Ridiculous that the parents permission is required to publish results. Your kid either has passed or has to sit again. What is the issue? If they couldn't get 30% it is a problem.

This policy is one of the most useless, it is applied as and when, our phones are bombarded with calls from people we hardly know and the useless regulator says nothing about ways of stopping this unwanted calls, or maybe she is paid not to address our problems .Popia is a real popi act
