Be My Baby - 2022 Stereo Remaster (The Ronettes)

Reached No. 2 in the U.S. in 1963. The most iconic example of Phil Spector's 'Wall of Sound' and one of the greatest pop songs of all time—its influence is still heard today.

This new mastering is based on a somewhat rare stereo mix—not from the Ronettes' album Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes, but from an alternate mix featured on the compilation Ellie Greenwich – A Kind of Girl You Can’t Forget. Greenwich, one of the song’s co-writers, was closely involved in its creation. I aimed to recreate the punch of the mono version in the thinner-sounding stereo mix, while preserving its clarity.

The famous drumbeat was created by accident when drummer Hal Blaine dropped a stick.
Among the backing vocalists are Sonny and Cher, who filled in for the absent Darlene Love.
