This short Tassomai tutorial video explains the process by which a simple electric motor works.

It will help you learn and revise content required for all major GCSE specifications including AQA Separate, AQA Trilogy, AQA Synergy, Edexcel Combined, Edexcel Separate, OCR 21st Century, OCR Gateway, WJEC Combined, WJEC Separate, IGCSE, CIE Coordinated and CIE Separate.

3 key facts to remember about motors:

1- Any current-carrying wire in a magnetic field will experience a force (which results in movement).

2- Using Fleming's Left Hand Rule, you can see how one side of the motor will move up while the other moves down.

3- The SPLIT RING COMMUTATOR keeps the current flowing the same way, even after the motor flips over - this means the motor keeps spinning.
