It's been 5 years since "River" was uploaded to YouTube. (It's crazy that 2 of those 5 years were the pandemic!)

It was my first "class video" ever! 40 million views now, and it's still shocking that people liked a routine that was not to a popular song, where we stood still for the first 2 eight counts.

I retaught the routine at Millennium 5 years later to bring it full circle.

The both got different vibes. 2022 seemed more mature and strong. Where 2019 had a a strong sassy attitude. Both amazing and makes me want to get up and dance.

The first one just radiated raw emotion and just that angry energy. The second one, even though it was the same choreo was just "I'm done" and so technically proficient and confident. I adore this.

This was a beautiful side-by-side of inner duality. Wonderful!

You can so clearly see how galen was amazing before but now she's just so much more sturdy and it's incredible how she keeps on improving

2022 is very technically well done but 2017 has some raw energy to it that is captivating

For me the 2017 version had more raw emotion, power, angst, but the 2022 version has a soft almost nostalgic feel to it as if already over the situation and just reminiscing about it. Both beautiful, though I personally prefer the former.

The dance in 2017 was me while trapped in a bad situation needing to dance as an outlet for my pain. 2022 is me dancing now having been freed from my situation and having grown stronger because of it. Happiness now that I've never felt before. Thank God!!!!

I love this choreo! Like so many here, I taught it to myself at home . There is a strength. A very particular strong sexy strength this routine gave me. Words can't really do it justice. I was in a very unhappy " stuck" place. I had stopped performing, didn't have any money for classes, thought my dance self was gone for good, too old, too broke, I'll never be good when I saw this on YouTube and HAD TO learn it.
I made big changes in 2018. Good ones. I swear this dance gave me the momentum. Thank you Galen.

2017- passionate but bit rough
2022- still passionate but also clean and all of movement is good well organized and controlled🥰
