I’m so sick of no name. She’s the highest level of clout chasing known to man.

Thank you for touching on equality of opportunity vs equality of outcome. Many people don't see the danger in equality of outcome and deep down they'd understand that is not a good goal, equality of opportunity is gold.

God bless your heart Ruslan. I am from Nigeria and folks down here are largely excited about what Beyonce did with her project. She gave opportunities to a lot of local creatives over here. From fashion designers to cinematographers and choreographers. I am sure a lot of these folks will enjoy the benefits of this huge opportunity.
I am in no way a fan of this Woke politics where an American feel they know our realities more than we who live here. Those advocating for socialism haven't lived in a socialist society. A lot of African countries after independence adopted socialist policies and it's part of what has killed our economy on the continent. Noname and co have no idea what they are talking about.

Continue to do the Lord's work. I'm a big fan. God bless you brother.

I don't agree with no name because she seems bitter and goes after artists holding them to an unrealistic standard. Nothing Bey or Cole could do would help them win. Bey is not shafting Africa but other bigger less known entities are.

Ru, I love your videos. Great quality and insight. I'm from Africa, currently Mozambique and it would take me ages to explain how capitalism messed up our continent. The U.S. did not occupy any African nation but till this day your 'spooks' are out here fiddling with us. It is also our fault because we allow it but American capitalism is subtly becoming the European imperialism we once lived through. This is called neocolonialism. China has learned from this and they are dumping people and products here, consequently crippling our economies. Wars have been started, industries have been killed, presidents overthrown because of bad U.S. foreign policy and outright greed.

This is my opinion as a huge Beyoncé fan. If people criticize Beyoncé, I’m not going to automatically attack them because everyone is entitled to an opinion even if you don’t agree or like her. I am old enough to understand that not everyone is going to agree with what Beyoncé does and attacking them or belittling them for an opinion is not only the answer. HOWEVER, when it comes to Noname, I hate the fact that she spoke about this topic because she does not know what she’s speaking about. It’s that simple. As a child growing up especially reading history books in school, It has always been programmed and presented to me that Africa was a very dirty, poor, and dysfunctional place. Growing up, I always knew Africa as a place I would never want to visit because it was viewed as poor. It took me growing up as an adult to realize that that’s not what Africa is. Africa does have a lot of Poverty but that’s not what Africa represents. I visited Africa and It was the most beautiful place i have ever been and Learning about my history and where we all actually come from made me become the person I am today. When I watched Black Is King, I appreciate the hell out of the fact that Beyoncé showed the world a different view on what African culture really is. As black creators, 99% of the time, our work is not being recognized if we are not speaking about slavery or poverty. It was finally great to see us viewed in a different light and if Noname is uneducated about what African culture really is, that’s not Beyonce fault.

Noname starting to get on my nerves. She stay on her iPhone in her apartment talking about evil capitalism...while benefiting from it. She stays negative and calls out artists out of boredom. I was a big fan. Now, Jeeze. Can she just shut up and read at this point?

I'm on both sides. Please don't kill me for it. These are all opinions. Let's not separate because of it.

What these guys are pushing for is Equality of Outcome instead of Equality of Opportunity.

Because they see how people have abused the system of capitalism they feel the system is broken. As it is true that elements of a capitalist system can be abused such as lobbying and paying politicians and tax breaks.

But when you look at socialist countries who have tried socialism they are not in a better situation. See countries like Venezuela 🇻🇪 right now. The country is struggling and the leaders at the top are not living like the people the policies they are pushing hurt the most.

The Irony with Noname is that she is against capitalism while she uses her smartphone and twitter all products of a capatalistic society.

She is young and has not lived or travelled enough to know what's happening around the world. And whoever she is reading is pushing an agenda based on theories and not rooted in FACTS and the reality of what has happened in the past due to socialism.

She should read more about Joseph Stalin and Nikolai Bukharin.

I wish we wouldn't just pick a side of the conversation and completely overlook the other side
Noname's way of bringing attention to social issues is not that graceful/nuanced but isn't that how everyone in twitter communicates it. Come to think of it this is like the best situation she could have used to raise her concern and the risk of backlash was one worth taking.
Reading the tweet again and again, nothing she said was against Beyonce or anyone else uplifting African culture or artists.
I just think that as much as the Western world or just everyone apart from Africa is idolizing African culture these days, she didn't want us to lose sight of what a lot of African nations are struggling with caused by the Western world (or other problems that they could help with but may go against their national interests), sometimes so sublte that a lot of Africans don't even know. I'm not the best person to communicate these things even though I'm African, but there is truth to what she's trying to raise. The fact that some Africans were against Noname in this doesn't mean she was completely wrong. A lot of us quite honestly aren't always aware of what happens politically, including me.
Even with the J Cole situation, he even agreed with what she called him out for and Cole just had a problem with how she did it which in my opinion was right.
I would just like people to acknowledge that a lot of discussions we see on the internet come off rude/hostile which I think is influenced more by social media culture than anything else. There may be a lot of truth to what they say even if they don't communicate it as well as we'd like. If Noname were in the room with Beyonce or J Cole or anyone she might have 'called out' on twittter, I'm sure there wouldn't be any hostility in her words.

There is definitely US impact/imperialism in Africa. Noname is speaking on truth and so is Beyoncè

I commented the same exact thing when she was talking about stopping shows bc there were too many white ppl and ppl were coming at me bc she said she was taking a a stand for the history of racism they endeared in America? Like no she’s acting entitled! And here “protest” don’t teach me shit, she just comes off MAD JEALOUS like at least Beyoncé is trying!

Reading based on people who have done something themselves... solid advice. Experiential and able to be applied rather than just thought about.

I want to say that Noname has a point
Capitalism encourages greed and exploitation as a downside
America's breed of capitalism is a neoliberal one at best which actively encourages corruption
Full on socialism sucks too but capitalism needs regulation and the government needs to create a basic safety net for all its citizens
Both ideologies have some good things about them
It doesn't have to be one or the other
And as a Nigerian who is not a Beyonce Stan,
Yes US imperialism has helped to paralyze Nigeria's economy at least
Plus imperialism is an end product of capitalism

How is a money making rapper marketed as a business hate capitalism??? That's ultra contradictory.
