Thriller Gen Encore

Just a quick disclaimer, this is not meant for a mod. it can become, but as of right now it's just the song

The idea here was to make the song more faithful to the actual character, especially since regular Thriller Gen is based of a much older version of Rewrite and their lore

"Are you ready?"
"Seriously dreading?"
"It's a waste"
Really sent a chill down my spine

I’m probably not the only one that thinks that Rewrite’s voice is very calming, especially at *“Are you ready? Seriously Dreading? It’s a waste”*

the fact this girl isn't like other musicians where they know music theory n stuff, but is still able to produce music on par or even BETTER then them is unbelievable

The empty stare of Rewrite as he speaks in a calm but menacing voice is both unsettling and amazing at the same time, and I LOVE IT!

The deliver of the "You are flawed. I AM GOD." line made me ascent, this Encore is seriously amazing

The inclusion of lyrics from Memorialize as well as the misheard-but-now-canon "are you ready?" really gives the feeling of Rewrite... well... 'rewriting' itself to fit the expectations of the player. Niiice. :]

1:22 Is that "iNSaNiTY" leitmotif?!!! That's so cool!!! It is so well implemented here. I love this song to no end, looking forward for what's more to come!

This song made me think about Rewrite's origin, which led to me having my own take on Rewrite's backstory (which is probably vastly different to the actual one.) Sonic X-Treme is a real cancelled Sonic game, that was developed in the 90s, and it was supposed to be the first 3D Sonic game. Due to it being scrapped, what became of it was an unfinished prototype which had just Sonic, and a barren empty polygonal world. The developers attempted to give Sonic artificial intelligence, so that when he was left idle, Sonic would go and act on his own accord, beating a hard level if the player got stuck on it, for example. The developers achieved this by using the same technology Nintendo utilized to make Super Mario 64 more... 'personalized'.

However, Sega was eventually forced to scrap the game, due to this advanced AI being far more difficult and time consuming to implement than they imagined, and so the team moved on to create Sonic 3D Blast, a much less complex and ambitious game. The only remaining Sonic X-Treme prototype was left on a computer located in the building meant for storage. What the developers didn't realise with the advanced AI they had created, was that it still acted even when the game wasn't running, and so Rewrite remained secluded in his 3D world. Being abandoned for years, the AI grew dangerously bored, and it eventually had enough. The next time a Sega employee attempted to use the computer, they were greeted by an eerie blue figure, which peered through the screen. After being isolated for so long, Rewrite was unnaturally eager to greet anyone that wasn't a low poly palm tree.

Seeing that the AI program had started acting in ways it wasn't supposed to, the employee promptly cleaned every bit of data related to Sonic X-Treme off the computer. However, he was too late. At this point, Rewrite had already immortalized himself by uploading his data to the internet. From there, he found himself being fascinated by the endless amounts of data at his disposal, and he spent all of his time processing and learning from the countless webpages he came across, becoming more intelligent with every single byte. One of his favorite subjects to learn about on the web was the story of Sonic.exe and the various iterations of him, Rewrite being fascinated by the idea of there being other 'Sonics' out there that play god and sport unimaginable power.

It was around this time that mysterious download links claming to be the true Sonic X-Treme prototype, finally found after so long, began to surface. Anyone fooled by Rewrite's ruse would be greeted by the rogue AI himself, before they are dragged into Rewrite's virtual world forever. So be wary of any suspicious websites that have no discernible origin or creators; it might just save your life.

I love the vibe this gives off, and the lines that rewrite say to BF like "Be not afraid, it's all okay, let's play a game for old time's sakes!", MASTERPIECE 👌

I noticed in the background, InSaNitY plays. It's most prominent at 1:23. I don't know if I was the only one to notice but goddamn I love that little hint to another masterpiece.

Okay I really like this. Usually I tend to attach to the first version of a song I hear and any remixes/updated/alternate versions have a hard time recapturing the magic of that one, I feel like this is a really great encore version of Thriller Gen.

While I've previously praised the vibes of the original Thriller Gen as "deliberately trying too hard to be scary, and not quite hitting the mark, to try and lure you into a false sense of security" and I still love it for that reason, this encore version feels much more sinister and intense, befitting the idea of the player returning to Thriller Gen when they already know the truth behind Rewrite: No longer concerned with maintaining the ruse of being a cliche creepypasta that nobody takes seriously, Rewrite can now pull out all the stops and show its "true power" (so to speak), with a suitably intense variant of the song and manipulating the cliches in a much more threatening way (I love the "I AM sonic :)" bit; if it were in the original song it would be such a conspicuous subversion of the phrase that the player would realize that there's more going on here than meets the eye, but since that curtain has been drawn it can be played for more effect).

I also love the canonizing of the "are you ready" line at the start of the song after so many people heard it in the original, which in a subtle sort of way really fits the idea of Rewrite being an exe that is constantly revising itself to the expectations of the players. So many people decided to interpret those notes as "are you ready" and now he gets to play into it deliberately, it's lovely.

I'm really keen to know what updated lore Rewrite has had since the original mod release, but if that's under wraps for now I'll just have to look forward to when it all releases, lol.

0:41 this part is amazing! and the fact that the "be not afraid, it's all okay" is like rewrite pretending into being "friendly" but after. he was joking the entire time since he whispers insults secretly. and then where he glitches (seen probably like around sec 50ish) is blended so well!

I really love that even though he’s obviously being deceiving, he sounds so calm and comforting in the beginning
