I used to keep ferrets. I would not let one around a baby and especially not unsupervised. They have very powerful jaws for their size and can take down prey many times it’s size. They are ferocious little predators.

When i worked ER, we had a baby who had three of his baby toes eaten away by the family's two pet ferrets. They heard the baby screaming, ran in and his toes were already gone..DCF, the police and detectives were all involved. The parents were devastated. It was awful... NGL, i was lowkey pissed at the parents for being so ignorant

Ferrets are known to attack babies. In 2015, a ferret took off 25% of a one month old baby's face unprovoked. In 1987, before they were banned in the state, 33 infants were attacked by ferrets in California. One infant died; others nearly bled to death. One lost her nose, another half of both ears. Up to hundreds of bites were rapidly inflicted on all parts of the face, the result resembling ground beef according to some observers, although all exposed parts of the body are attacked as well. Typically the animal holding on tenaciously until killed or pried loose.

Ferrets play rough, and baby's can't protect themselves.
I advise keeping it to yourself when it happens. Don't cry about it because it will be 100% your fault.

Why would anyone let a ferret be alone with a baby? You should never leave any animal with an unattended baby, even if they are the nicest of animals they could still hurt the baby on accident.

I have a pet which is a ferret and when I was a baby my pet would always play with me but, then just steal my rabbit plushie which I still have but I don't really play with him anymore I just leave him on my bed

My parents had 9 ferrets when i was a baby, and according to them, they had to be very careful and watchful when i was in the same room as the ferrets because one time, when my mom looked away for a short while they tried to steal my socks off my feet and snagged my toes with their sharp teeth. Luckily the immediate crying scared them enough to let go of my foot long enough for my mom to learn what they did and scare em off. My toe bled but it could have been worse.

The hell is wrong with these parents?? As a dad myself and having grown up around numerous kinds of pets, this is incredibly infuriating.
