Such an incredible thorough, factual, well researched book... and a real page turner, too, even though I was listening to the audio book. The last 3 chapters were powerful beyond words, clearly showed how even before November 3, Trump directed the coup with help from his enablers. When the narrator got to the memorable quote by Capital police, "The Capital has been breached, " it still packs the same heartbreaking gut punch as the day it happened. This, I believe, is the definitive record of the Trump presidency.

The reason I am less optimistic about this "rough patch" in American history is the apathy and ignorance of such a large portion of the American populace. When a citizenry does not properly vet its officials for the most powerful offices in a country you can experience disaster. Trump was a disaster.

Yes, we are more divided as a country in 2022. 7 years of attack—outright blunt attack—on every ideal we believe we are based on has done irreparable damage. IMHO. I’m stating this as a 72yo retired educated woman who lives in the Northern California Bay Area, fantasyland that it is. I’m incandescent with rage. (I believe I first heard that term on Mary Trump’s podcast.) Was it Dahlia or Jen Taub who said it? 🤔 My sense of humor has changed, not for the better. 😖
