A lot of these clips were from PPV events, but they did have local TV deals on the east coast. They eventually got a national deal with TNN, but that deal ended up being their undoing, along side a few other dubious financial decisions and getting kind of screwed in their PPV partnership deal.

2:45 The guy with the whistle is manager Bill Alfonso who was a long time referee in ECW and WCW before becoming a manager. And the guy doing the kick is Rob Van Damn. You need to do a reaction to him. 2:00 The guy in the orange pants is Sabu. Need to do a reaction on him as well.

9:34 That is New Jack. And yes that vacuum cleaner was the real deal. Back then they would sometimes do what they used to call "Fans Bring Their Own Weapons Match" where people would bring in anything that they could think of and just hand them to him for his match. One time I heard that he was suppose to grab a guitar from a fan, but the guitar he was suppose to get was fake. But he accidentally grabbed another guitar and it was real.

For ECW 1996-1999 was by far the best era they had.

The Japanese guy that is constantly surviving chair shots is called Masako Tanaka. The shaved hair guy that resembles Steve Austin called Justin Credible. It is a play off of. word - 'Just Incredible'.

I was a teenager in the mid to late 90s. I saw ecw in chicago on Friday nights on ch 62. The original ecw was a great era 1993-2001 gone but not forgotten never

I remember ECW would have the whole show consist of ONE MATCH sometimes.

One night was just RVD vs Jerry Lynn for like 45 minutes, broken up by commercial breaks 🤣

ECW Hardcore TV was on tv in select markets across the US but were smaller networks as part of syndication agreements. I remember staying up on weekends to watch it.

Check out Sabu vs Terry Funk no rope barbed wire match for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship from ECW Born to be Wired August 1997. I was 14 yrs old in the 2nd row watching Sabu legit ripped his bicep open on the wire and then tape it shit and continue, then Funk almost choking to death when he and Sabu were a tangled ball of barbed wire.
Fun fact: the ending was botched, Funk was supposed to retain the title but because they were badly entangled in wire and Funk was basically suffocating, he pulled Sabu on tip and can be heard in the video telling Sabu to pin him because he needed to end the match and be cut free from wire or possibly die. And that's how Sabu won the ECW title for 7 days lol

ECW fans, looking back just on these comps alone, do you ever stop to think how much raw talent was left in ECW, Danny Doring, Chris Chetti, Simon Diamond, Steve Corino, guys who were over the top talented that wasted away in wwf like Super Crazy, Jerry Lynn, did Masato Tanaka ever go to WWE? or did he go back to Japan? crazy how talented the ECW roster was, even the low and mid cards, but this was also going on when the WWF was in its pinnacle Attitude era, we will never see anything on this level again.

New Jack got his big start in Smokey Mountain Wrestling as part of the Gangstas. Their promos man, the dude was born to get heat. You can find some shoot interviews with New Jack and Mustafa.
