After Floor took the lead singer position with Nightwish she called Tarja and asked her if she was okay with it. Tarja told her it was her past and wished Floor well.

During the pandemic Tarja hosted an Instagram livestream with Floor (I'm sure it can still be found on her Instagram channel) that was absolutely wonderful.

Great reaction. And you are absolutely right. People should stop comparing Tarja and Floor. Both are exceptional singers. It's crazy to think I have to degrade one to highlight the other. Can't say which one is better, it's a matter of personal preference.
I really like Floor, but Tarja is my metal love. Her voice can cut my soul to pieces. I wish they would record an official duet together. They are very good together.
I'm sorry that I underestimated Tarja from the beginning of her solo career. She is much better now than she ever was with NW.
And Floor... I wish Tuomas would write some iconic songs for her as well. I feel like her most popular songs are covers from Tarja's era. She is so amazing.

This duet shows Floor and Tarja are different, not one is better than the other. I love them both and can happily listen to both. But, if I had to choose one it would be Floor, Floor and again FLOOR.

The lady on the left pronounces her name Taa-rr-ee-aa. Tarja Turunen-Cabuli. The sound mixer had a challenge. Each lady is asking them to lower her own mic in favour of the others mic. In a proper concert where they set up the sound mix vs here its a festival of women in metal, they won't have the issue.
And I wish people would stop with versatile as a term of who is better. One style choice does not mean can not do something else. But no one buys tickets to hear Tarja do Mongolian throat singing. Or to hear Floor do Gregorian chants. No doubt with practice they could. But again why? These two Queens love each other. Before Tarja left Nightwish and to this day.
In fact the latest Crewish version of Dark Chest of Wonders has Tarja doing vocal duties. Sure at the crews request but Tumoas had to give his blessing to let Tarja produce new vocal tract. Understand Tuomas is married and lost his father. The 1st one to reach out was Tarja. Oh BTW Floor is 6'1 to Tarja's 5'4". Training helps with breath control. Plus ability to produce sound without hurting themselves in doing it wrong. Yes I know you as a singer know that, but for the guests it is attempts to force a sound out or not resting your voice causes damage and destroys the voice in later life. Floor is in her 41 to Tarja's 45. And they have lost nothing. A comparison not quite the same but comes to mind is Gordon Lightfoot. Now he had serious health troubles. But compare 1960s-90's Gordon and his deep resonate tenor to the mere echo of his voice in the 2000s. A shadow of its former self. Yes he is now 84 and advanced in years. But time, lack of care, lack of training, illness, injury can happen to anyone. Training is insurance against it. Doing everything in your power to protect your instrument. The thing that made your career possible. You would not expext say Van Halen to just toss his guitars in a pile on the ground. Or trust just anyone to tune it? Same idea. You have an investment. Protect it for as long as possible.
As for variety well have these people checked out her Outlanders project. A new Visualizer drops next week. Electronic music with keyboard and guitar. Filmed and recorded in Antuiga in the Bahamas. Can't blame her one bit. What the point in being idependtly wealthy with your own label if you can't work where you want to, when you want to. Including a tropical paradise in deep winter after Christmas? Even warmer than Spain in winter. Welcome to the digital age. Files can be e-mailed world wide in seconds. It makes zero difference where you are so long as you have high speed internet. The muscians are on one side of the planet. The engineer can be on the other. So long as you synchronize your clocks as needed. Vs fed ex and physical tapes being shuffled across a country or across an ocean. Where Los Angeles to London is 24 hour shipping time if you have the $. So spoiled now. Gen X grew up b4 internet. We remember.
