Alexander (2004) - Opening | The Story (HD)

The story begins 40 years after 323 BC, around 283 BC, with Ptolemy I Soter, who narrates throughout the film. We see Alexander's daily life and the strained relationship between his parents. Alexander grows up with his mother Olympias and his tutor Aristotle, where he finds interest in love, honor, music, exploration, poetry and military combat. His relationship with his father is destroyed when Philip marries Attalus's niece, Eurydice.

One of the best intros for Alexander Revisited. One thing that is a shame however, is the fact that the regular theatrical version contains a few extra scenes in the main hall that have been cut from Alexander Revisited, where Ptolemy narrates a bit more in front of the world map.

Saw this film on opening day 2004 and was blown away by the scope of work. The cinematography and production design and Vangelis score was top notch! Underrated movie and one of my favorites!

Surprisingly, Anthony Hopkins looks just like Ptolemy I in history, if you compare him with real Ptolemy I's historic images they share a lot of similarities in facial characteristics, they really found the perfect man to play this role in the film
