A late equaliser stopped Celtic from earning all three points in their Premier League International Cup clash with Leicester City.

Tsonaelo Letsosa scored twice on either side of half-time to put the Celts in control, but Leicester responded with two second-half strikes with one in stoppage time to share the points.

It was an incredible start to proceedings as Celtic came out of the blocks flying and almost scored in the second minute when Ben Summers’ shot from 25 yards beat the goalkeeper but cannoned off the bar.

The opening 10 minutes were played at an electric pace and despite Celtic dominating and looking the most threatening, the hosts had two big chances to open the scoring.

First, Josh Clarke produced a sublime save on six minutes, sprawling across his goal to stop Tawanda Maswanhise’s effort from nestling into the bottom corner, then the Leicester striker teed up his partner Brandon Cover on 10 minutes but his shot from the penalty spot cleared the crossbar.

It seemed as if the message from both camps was to fly out the blocks and try and get an early goal, with the first 20 minutes played at an incredible tempo, only the final ball from Celtic stopping them from scoring on a few occasions.

But there was nothing wrong with the final ball in the 31st minute when Letsosa opened the scoring for the Hoops after a superb team move.

Bruno Davidson switched the play to Ben Quinn on the left wing who in turn found Ewan Otoo on the underlapping run. The left-back had the presence of mind to square it back to Letsosa and he made no mistake with a first-time finish into the bottom left corner from around 16 yards out.

It was a goal that brought more confidence into Celtic’s play as they went in search of a second before half-time, but at the break, it was Letsosa’s goal that was the difference.

Celtic didn’t take long to make it 2-0 after the restart, with Letsosa doubling his tally and the team’s tally on 49 minutes.

Joey Dawson played in Quinn down the left wing and his low cross wasn’t dealt with by the Leicester defence. The ball fell to Letsosa inside the area and he swivelled to get his shot away, taking a slight deflection and nestling into the bottom corner.

Leicester was quick to get a goal back on 56 minutes however, as their captain Paul Appiah curled a low shot into the bottom right corner after the ball fell to him from a corner kick on the edge of the box.

From there on out, it was the hosts that were threatening the most as they looked for an equaliser, but the Celts were defending well and Clarke was impressing in goal and kept out a Shane Flynn shot on 71 minutes.

Forward Cover was inches away from making it 2-2 on 79 minutes when he hit a first-time shot just wide, then with three minutes to go Celtic had the ball in the net through Ben McPherson, but the referee called for offside.

It would prove to be a vital call as in the 91st minute the hosts equalised when Kian Pennant pounced on a mix-up at the back and raced through on goal and slotted underneath Clarke.

A cruel end to the game but still all to play for in the Premier League tournament, with a final game away to Blackburn Rovers next week, after an away trip to East Kilbride in the Lowland League at the weekend.

Lawal aint it, no idea why hes been in the first team squads lately. Where is Vata? hes the only player in the whole youth setup with a chance of making it at Celtic. Doak and Hjelde were lost for peanuts, if Vata bolts as well, we mayswell shut the whole jobs for the bhoys charade down.
