Story Mode: Doesn't kill because NPCs feel like real people

Online with real people:
Peace was never an option

Maybe I don't want to be the bad guy. Maybe I want this NPC to have his baby and to be a loving father.

I really expected the NPC to follow up with “So was I.”

Red Dead 2 was the first game that made my feel sympathy for the npcs.
Moments like this always felt so surreal, for a split second you'd forget you're even playing a game.

The slow turn to the wife had me shook

Wife: "No I'm not."
Husband: "SHHH!!!"

The only game that actually makes me feel bad for killing NPCs. I remember I lost a shooting competition to a stranger and shot him instead of paying him. Then once the "low honor" music came on, it dawned on me that I just killed a dude because I'm a sore loser. Needless to say, I reloaded and beat him.

Meanwhile in the future after I’ve raised my honor by catching and releasing fish:

I think this is one of the few games that makes nearly everyone feel bad about killing people because of the intense realism on everything. From the well defined world to the fleshed out npcs, they feel 100% real and act accordingly.
