The differentiation of (1-x) is -1 (Constant becomes 0, and -x becomes -1).

So if u=1-x, then du/dx = -1, then du= -1(dx) = -dx.

Everyone, you need to make sure you increase the 'starting n' when you integrate. The final answer should be the summation from 1 to infinity.

Thank you so much!!! I was having the hardest time figuring out how to add the two series together. It makes so much sense now!

Thank you so much! The part where you added the two series by first expanding them out was most helpful for me :)

how come you're allowed to take 1-x out of ln(1-x)?

look at the power series representation for ln(1+x), and everywhere you see an x in the summation substitute in an x^5

why don't you just let du = dx at 1:08?
why does it have to be du = (-1)dx?

When you say the series x^n=1/(1-x) is that only for values of x that are -1>1?
