Located on the south east coast of Cyprus, Larnaca is the oldest city in Cyprus with a history that dates back 10,000 years. The former city-kingdom of Kition was originally established in the 13th century BC and it is the longest continually inhabited region of the island. Today, Larnaca is the capital of the district of the same name and third-largest city in the country, after Nicosia and Limassol. Its central position on the island makes Larnaca the ideal destination for a Cyprus holiday offering the tourists not only the beauty of the city with its famous promenade but also easy access to the island's other regions. Larnaca has a seaport and a marina and it is home for the most important airport in Cyprus, Larnaca International Airport. Larnaca is famous for its palm-tree seafront called Finikoudes which is lined with mature palm trees and flanked by beach. Finikoudes promenade is a landmark of the city and a beautiful attraction among tourist. The coastal city of Larnaka is completed with its traditional architecture, many restaurants, interesting museums and shopping streets.
