Mark Pomerantz discusses the book "People vs. Donald Trump" at Politics and Prose bookstore in Washington, D.C.

In People vs. Donald Trump, Pomerantz tells the story of his unprecedented investigation, why he believes Donald Trump should be prosecuted, and what we can learn about the nature of justice in America from this extraordinary case. Pomerantz draws from a lifetime of legal experience to tell a devastating and frequently entertaining story of how prosecutors think, how criminals act, and how our justice system works—and sometimes doesn’t work. Pomerantz has written a cautionary tale that illuminates the challenges of prosecuting Donald Trump, why Trump manages to dance between the raindrops of accountability, and how others might bring him to justice.

Mark Pomerantz received a B.A. from Harvard College in 1972 and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1975, where he was editor in chief of the Michigan Law Review. He served as a law clerk to Judge Edward Weinfeld of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and Justice Potter Stewart of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Pomerantz is in conversation with Robert Costa. Costa is the Chief Election & Campaign correspondent for CBS News, where he covers national politics and American democracy. Based in Washington D.C., he is a regular contributor to the CBS Evening News with Norah O'Donnell, Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan, CBS Mornings, and Sunday Morning, as well as to CBS News Streaming programs such as Red & Blue. As part of his coverage, Costa has interviewed high-profile leaders ranging from Vice President Kamala Harris to Congresswoman Liz Cheney. Before joining CBS News in 2022, Costa and reporting legend Bob Woodward co-wrote Peril, which was published by Simon & Schuster in September 2021. The book documented the tumultuous transition between the Trump presidency and the Biden presidency and was a No. 1 New York Times bestseller. It was also cited in congressional subpoenas issued by the House committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
