The Unbelievable Speed of a Hummingbird!

In this video, we demonstrate the speed of Hummingbirds in two different ways. First, we use a (simulated) metronome to show how fast their breathing and heart rate are. Second, we use a piano to show how fast different species flap their wings. I hope this leaves you with a new appreciation of the "humming" from Hummingbirds!

This is so fascinating, and truly mindblowing that these critters function so quickly we understand their movements better as sound. But at the same time, I was so overwhelmed by the cuteness of imagining holding the tiniest stethescope up to a humming bird to hear its tiny speedy lil heart, and the cuteness of remembering when I've seen them IRL and they really do sound like music notes!! what incrdible lil creatures!!!
