As a fellow bassoon or as i like to call it (instrumental musket) i know this is so true that during a concert we played 2 notes and then they made us stay quiet for like 5 meassures AND EVEN THE PERCUSSION THE INSTRUMENT THAT NO ONE HEARS PLAYED MORE THAN US

its funny for me my ig ✨ main ✨ intrument is oboe. but the thing is there are four bands in my school in total (marching, pep, jazz, and concert). however, i don’t do pep band because of scheduling. and so that leaves really one band i can play oboe in, and thats concert band. The closest thing i could get to oboe in marching band was the marching bassoon or the clarinet, i choose clarinet bc it’s basically the same size. and in jazz band i could either do rhythm section or a brass instrument plus saxophone. i chose trumpet. and actually if i were ever to do pep band i would either do baritone or oboe.

At one of my Marching Band competitions, the Drum Major of one of the other bands got off his stands and played a solo on his Bassoon. It was crazy.
