Books to Read Instead of Hillbilly Elegy

So the Hillbilly Elegy movie trailer just dropped and instead of giving JD Vance more money to exploit from the region, I am recommending some alternative reading recommendations instead of Hillbilly Elegy. These are all works by Appalachians and for everyone. I tried to include a wide variety so there's something for everyone, but it is just scratching the surface of Appalachian lit.

I enjoyed Mr. Vances book and the movie. I certainly would not discount his experience and conclusions. His are his, yours are yours. Everyone has their own personal and unique to them story.
