I think the email was leaked specifically because it asked employees to work on Thanksgiving weekend (for Americans this is really egregious as so many people in the US travel to see family at this time). If it were a different weekend (except xmas) I’m not sure it would have been leaked. I’m not sure him talking about bankruptcy would have been enough for a prospective whistleblower. I think Elon could have been a bit more culturally sensitive (as a South African/Canadian he might not have been thinking in those terms; and it was kind of dumb given people aren’t going to be 100% focused in this situation). Having worked a lot in startup culture myself I know this sort of pointed urgency (where there isn’t actually an imminent failure) never produces the desired result of an instant fix, especially if it keeps happening (it’s going to burn people out, even if they are incredibly passionate). I think Elon does deserve credit for doing the work and working hard to solve problems (including pulling ridiculous overtime) and isn’t asking anyone to do something he wouldn’t do. But it’s also clearly taken a toll on him, that he has acknowledged, so he should also see how that affects others (I don’t envy him, he probably feels he’s constantly having to nag others to work at a level of competence he expects from himself, which is almost never going to happen. What he really needs to do is replicate Gwynne Shotwell several times to fill all the other managerial roles).

Yes it was wrong for the employee to leak the email as it doesn’t rise to something worth whistleblowing (ie criminal behaviour), but I can see why it was.

I think there will be a full Staticfire with all 29 Raptors, but it will be in 3 Stages:
Stage 1 are the inner 9 Engines firing
Stage 2 are the outer 20 Engines firing
Stage 3 will be all 29 Engines firing together (just my thaughts)
