Sarasota has always had bad red tides. I used to go every summer as a kid, and sometimes we could only use the pool at the hotel, but the air smelled so bad. I’m now 65 and it’s still happening. But it is not a yearly event. Perhaps it is acid rain throwing off the PH balance of the gulf. Just my theory.
