Mary is the mother of Jesus.

Jesus is God.

Therefore, Mary is the Mother of God, mother of the Word incarnate. She is the Earthly mother of Jesus, who is God.

There is a difference between dulia (veneration) and latria (worship). Catholics give latria (adoration or worship) to God alone. You can go to Catholic Dot Com to find out more.

Catholics do not believe that Jesus gets any of his divinity from Mary. His divinity comes from God the Father.

are you Catholic? this is a stumbling point with me about the catholic religion...to me, it seems that Catholics worship Mary, and pray to her, and believe that she intercedes to God in prayer...
