It’ll probably be back within a couple years with the cut orchestra and changes they did in more recent phantom versions ( less musicians, cut cast, less elaborate set.)

I protest they leave the Phantom sign up in the city❤

Clearly, some of the people in the comments are not grasping this interview. If you know Broadway, you would know the cost of shows (like everything else) is going up. Phantom is one of the most expensive productions to put on. Couple that with dark houses when the theaters had to shut down because of the pandemic, and you'll get WHY Phantom had to close. The price of tickets would have to be INSANE to recover the losses, and NO ONE would come if they were. I do believe, though, that it WILL be back at some point (judging by the response the closure has received).

Typically, conversation was shut down just as it started getting interesting.

ABBA voyage isn’t a musical or play, it’s a concert experience, Mamma Mia is ABBA’s musical. Two completely different things, I don’t see shows like ABBA voyage being a threat to musicals, if anything it threatens live concerts especially for up and coming artists

You know something is finished when they're having to resort to "diversity" and "representation" to bring in punters.
