Just finished building this. Finished my Simple Cub last week. Working my way up to the Master Series F4U Corsair and then the P-39 Lightning. These builds are super fun and the vids make them easy to follow along and build. No experience in making RC planes prior. Thank you Josh and the Flite Test team! Keep up the great work!

Ive been building this from scratch with your downloadable plans. Everything is straight forward when cutting ect...
Greatly appreciated, the rc airplane hobby wouldn't be affordable enough without such easy plans!

hint 2 - to mold the top part of the hatch to the bottom part in prep for gluing - I put rubber bands around it and let it set overnight - almost perfect after that - very little spring to the outside left in it. I used 3inch diameter bands 1/4 inch wide - I had plenty so I put one about every inch - about 12 in all.

I have built a Spitfire and am about to start on a simple soarer. Once that is done and I get some more flight time I am going to start on a mig - I love the new forming techniques!

Just ordered one today, this will be my second plane. Maybe it's not the best decision to buy a warbird as a second plane but I guess I will find out :D

I made a Flite Test MIG3 this afternoon and for the most part it went well.  It was my first flight test kit.  It took about 6 hours (I didn't bother with the undercarriage, scoop and wing flares) and I followed the video to the letter.  Beware cutting the bevels! Josh makes it look easy but I used a brand new hobby knife and it juddered.  My tip would be get a very thin bladed hobby knife and life should be easier.  If your bevels are wobily when you seal them with hot glue it stiffens the hinge as you don't remove as much glue as Josh does.  The result is a stiff control service.  My elevator formed a crease due to this and I will have to stiffen it with fibreglass or something similar to prevent it from being a rear, one sided aileron!  It is very thin back there (joining port and starboard elevator) and i think in normal use it wont last long.  Also the canopy is not a good solution and I think the guys know it as the video mentions something a bit better fitting/looking in the video.  I don't know quite what I'm going to do there yet...  A simple moulding would be an improvement but that would mean they couldn't sell it as a flat pack...  You can't tape over it as the canopy is joined to the sliding top section.  In the vid it says the esc should be under the power pod.  Please do this as it makes battery positioning so much easier.  I didn't as I soldered on the X60 batt connector first and it won't fit through the kits pod holes!  that means my battery is difficult to secure in the correct position for a good COG.  That said, the airframe is great value for money and if you elaborate a little and seal the edges and use a heavy, wide and high quality packing tape you end up with a great platform.   How does it fly?  Dunno!  The clocks went back today and it was dark when I finished!  Tomorrow, wind permitting..

would love to see a "how to" video explaining how you connected the FPV cam you had in the main release video with the reciever :)

I've been flying multirotors for the past month or so... but I think this is going to be a little dive back into planes in the near future.

Hey Flite Test you are amazing. You have inspired and had got many people including me into the rc hobby. You are very supportive to the community and with videos like this you can get people into the hobby from home. Keep up the amazing work!!

hint - instead of using a table edge to get the rounding I used a round metal roller - what I had handy - a metal wing spar about 12" long and 1/2 " round. I started in the middle and worked my way to the edges and as a final effort put it in the middle and got the perfect rounded top.
I had painted the piece white so I used paper towel in the next step to protect the paint.
I used 2 small plastic clamps and squeezed the ends together around the tube and let it set for a couple of minutes and the foam took a perfect fit and then I did not have to fight the piece when I glued it down - it was not trying to pull outward.

Have learned to use loctite on the screws that hold x mount to back of brushless motor. Well save you from having to disassemble to tighten them up. They don't always come lose if you don't use it, but it is very cheap insurance for the ones that do.
