My grandfather was a violin maker from Sweden, he made me a 1/3rd size one when I was a kid. I still have it. 😊

The nyckelharpa derives from the region of northern Uppland in Sweden.

I just heard of this instrument - wow, cool looking. I always wanted to learn fiddle but this looks maybe easier? I am not sure. LOL. I decided to learn how to play harp instead. ;)

...might be a dumb question (lovely playing, by the way!!) but I'm genuinely curious. I don't want to denigrate this instrument, but surely just using your fingers on a violin would be much simpler, at least from a mechanical point of view? A hurdy gurdy at least removes the need to bow, is this not essentially a massively over engineered fiddle? Is there a difference?

Two slight issues. "Skålarna" (means "the bowls") and "Byss-Calle". In the late 1700s, there wouldn't have been a 'K' in the beginning of the name.

I have a serious complaint, Bronwyn ... this is far, far too short, you should have played it at least Three Times.
