I've spent an extensive amount of time in Costa Rica and the stone spheres are anywhere from 9' circumference to the size of a basketball. I've seen them used as decorations out in front of banks and as door stops. No one knows exactly why they were made, but some of them are so accurate that they are less than a 16th of an inch off of being a perfect sphere.

It's possible that we are over thinking this. With out gravity or something suspended that natural 'gravity' makes spheres ( planets, etc.) That maybe there's a period when it rained down natural spheres and just got buried in time?!

Makes me think about the Earth/Thea collision hypothesis. If true earth would have had a very dense bizarre atmosphere for a while, possibly creating stone spheres like spheriles we find naturally after impacts or lightning strikes on sand. It's possible they predate life and just happened to survive our very alien world and after several billions of years some survived much exposure to our current atmosphere/biosphere/geology.
It would almost be vastly more bizarre and pretty neat if that was the case.
Imagine, if, when life on earth was first beginning to evolve if massive stone spheres were the vast quantity of the landscape and underwater ocean world at the time.
