Filming of the Battle of Moria was INSANE (from The Hobbit)

Filming the Battle of Moria in The Hobbit was far more demanding than expected. Initially planned for two days, it stretched into 10 grueling days of chaotic, intense combat scenes. Actors and stunt performers wore heavy, restrictive dwarf armor, battling through heat and limited visibility to create a sense of overwhelming mayhem and bloodbath against the orcs. Despite the challenges, the final result was an impressive and visceral battle sequence on screen.

Show of hands, people who recognized the second unit director as Gollum...

I can go on and on about what I don’t like in these movies like everyone can, but this battle was awesome. I’ve always wanted to see the Dwarves in their power and numbers.

It’s also the only thing I like about RoP is seeing the dwarven city.

Richard Armitage got hit by his own shield during the shooting and it caused him to bite through his lip, so it formed a hole between his lip and the area behind it, forming a little pool of blood. You can see this in the movie after Thorin cuts off Azog's arm and after the orc gets literally carried away, he shouts to his fellow dwarves before the charge which makes them win the battle.
Nothing have been said if thst "battle wound" was healed afterwards but seems it was treated as no other scenes or documentary shows that Armitage still have it, not even in Battle of Five Armies.

This battle was far better than the battle of the five armies.

I have always thought this was a much bigger scene that they cut way to short.

The irony is that Gollum is their director. 😂

Turned out clompletely forgetable. Just like all the other moshpit type battles that hollywood so much love. Why not put armies opposite eachother for once instead of this silly nightclub dance floor type thing.
