December 2022.
The beautiful Madurai - Theni section of Southern Railway's #Madurai Division was reopened after gauge conversion in May 2022. This is currently a single line diesel section, with the remainder of the line to Bodinayakkanur pending inauguration.

Starting from the plain landscape of Madurai, the tracks traverse beautifully through the foothills of the Western Ghats and terminate at the foot of the main ghat mountains at Bodi. There is only one service on this line - and that's the one shown in this video.

We got very lucky as the cloudy sky opened up and a beautiful Golden Rock WDM3A in the trademark green livery turned up in style, negotiating the almost horseshoe shaped curve.

Videos shot on Samsing Galaxy S21 Plus and DJI Mini 2.

Beautiful capture, I remember when you used to click form the top of Makali Ghats. Is the initial part of drone video at 1.5x speed? Also, can we see you standing at the curve at 3:32?

The drone capture is absolutely fantastic! The audio feels a bit forced (I'm guessing you overlaid it on top of the drone video? It's somewhat out of sync, especially where the loco notches up in the end, and the birds a bit too loud for the altitude) but nevertheless - I was astounded by how long you were able to follow the train. Excellent work!
